The Students’ Union is run by students for students – that means we’re completely dedicated to representing students at Staffs and helping provide what they want from their student experience. That covers everything from advice and support, great venues and events to representation, sports clubs, activities and even a dedicated student media service.
We’re constantly striving to ensure the best possible experience for all students at Staffs and free membership of the Students’ Union is automatic on enrolling at Staffordshire University. That means our students get to have their say in what we do and how we do it.

The Students' Union sponsors and supports a diverse range of student-run groups. These include both competitive and recreational sports groups, special interest groups, academic societies and some that we are unable to categorise! Before any individuals can coach your Club or Society, they will need to be registered with the Students' Union.
This applies to groups where the nature of the activity requires specialist skills or a higher level of knowledge. All groups with a high risk of injury through physical contact or activity will need a coach with specialist skills/knowledge to run their training sessions where the risks may occur.
Provide your proposed coach with the Information for Coaches leaflet, and get them to fill in the Coach Registration Form.
Organise for the coach to provide copies of certificates for all of their relevant qualifications - they can either scan and send these to activities@staffs.ac.uk, or committee members / coaching staff can arrange to visit the Students' Union and the Activities Co-ordinators will take copies of them.
Return the Registration Form & copies of certificates to your site specific Activities Co-ordinator; if there are any problems, the Student Activities team will be in touch.
So that we can be certain, coaches must register each academic year - if no details have changed then they can just provide new copies of all the relevant certificates.
We do not contact referees every year, only when a coach is first registered if considered neccessary.
