Personal Accident Insurance

Members to most sports clubs and some societies are required to pay a £3.00 premium to cover any Personal Injury which may occur whilst taking part in a recognised Union activity.

Who should buy this insurance?

It is mandatory to buy the insurance to most of the Students' Union's sports clubs and some of our societies. In these cases, you will be unable to buy membership to the group without paying the £3 insurance premium.

Some sports clubs have an equivalent insurance provided by the National Governing Body to which the club is affiliated. In such cases please see the relevant NGB’s website for details of the cover provided.

If you are taking part in our Give it a Go programmes or even just checking out a club before joining, you can take out the insurance policy for a year. One insurance policy will cover you for as many activities as you take part in.

What do I do if I'm injured?

If you suffer an injury whilst taking part in an insured activity you should complete an Accident Report Form and submit it to the key staff member who will be able to advise about making a claim.

A successful claim will depend on the nature of the injury or loss and factors relating to hospitalisation, expenses incurred, etc (see above). Any claims will need to be started within 3 weeks of the incident.
