How do students join our group?

Staffordshire University Students

Any student from Staffordshire University - whether new or returning - can sign up in three different ways:

1) By visiting your group's page and buying their student membership online using a debit or credit card.  If you have problems logging in to the website, follow these instructions.

2) By visiting the Activities Fair during Welcome Week and paying in cash.

3) By visiting Student Activities and paying with cash (at selected times).

As a committee member, please don't take cash on behalf of anyone - the reason we have the options above is because then there's a paper-trail as to who has purchased membership.

Anyone who buys a student membership before the deadline (Sunday 9th October 2011 at 11:59pm) will count towards your membership target.  People can continue to sign up throughout the year, but those who buy a membership after the deadline will not count towards your target, and so the Students' Union will not match their membership fee.

Even if your group is free to join, please still encourage members to join.  By doing so, we then know who's involved in the group and can support you properly.

Keele University

Students at Keele University can become members of a Staffordshire University Students' Union group only if the group isn't on offer at Keele.  To do so, they must visit the Students' Union on College Road and speak to the Student Activities department.  Once registered, they can pay in the same three ways above.

Although not a student at Staffordshire University, the Students' Union will still match the membership costs Keele students pay, provided they sign up before the membership deadline.  They are also eligible to stand and vote in commitee elections.

Non-Student Members

Anyone who is not a current Staffordshire University or Keele University student is eligible to join your group, provided they have a link to Staffordshire University.  To do so, they must register as an Associate Member of the Students' Union, by visiting our reception at College Road or Beaconside.

Once registered, they can pay in the same three ways above but must select 'Associate Membership'. Please ensure that this option is available online by contacting your key staff member.

The Students' Union does not sponsor groups for members who are not students at either Staffordshire or Keele Universities.  This means that these Associate members must pay the full, unsubsidised amount, and do not count towards the membership target.  They also cannot stand in committee elections.
