Welcome to Staffordshire University Students' Union

CLUBS & SOCIETIES COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERING

You may not realise it, but eveything that you do for your club, society or officer role (that isn't paid) is volunteering, and that looks great on your CV.  So we've created a scheme that recognises your hard work.  It's simple and works by you keeping a simple log book telling me what you've done for your club or society.

Its really simple to do and can prove to be a real bonus when it comes to building a CV and enhancing your Employability Skills.

We have 4 levels of certificate you can gain:

  • Bronze – 25 hours full volunteering on a day project
  • Silver – 50 hours volunteering
  • Gold – 75 hours volunteering
  • Platinum – 100 Hours volunteering

So, what can you include to rack up the hours?

Most things that you do for your activity can count (sorry - no socials though!) so there is no reason why you can't get started straight-away.  And of course you can backdate from the start of September so that all your hard work for Freshers and beyond can count.

 What counts:

·        Organising events (e.g. Freshers’ Fair, competitions, seminars, social events)

·        Running the events themselves

·        Emailing/calling students

·        Attending meetings/forums on behalf of your club/society

·        Dealing with the finances

·        Updating websites and constitutional information

·        Driving your club or society to venues

What doesn’t:

·        Socials – sorry!

·        Getting a qualification – while you can count using your new skill for the benefit of your club or society, you can’t count the actual time spent getting the qualification.

·        Taking the Michael out of the system

So why not make a start on logging your hours by using our Volunteer Log Sheet.

If you are ever unsure as to what constitutes as volunteering, email it in anyway – the worst that will happen is that it won’t be included.
