An update from your incoming President for the 2012 - 2013 Academic Year, Gary, on the Officer Team.
I always knew that a new year brings new challenges - I hoped we might get further than day one.
Last Monday, on the first day of handover, Katy Mitchell met with the new and current officers to explain that she wouldn't be able to take up her post.
Due to changing personal circumstances and responsibilities Katy realised she wouldn't be able to fully commit to her role as a Sabbatical Officer so therefore stood down.
After a week of discussions between myself, the other Officer Elects and the current Officer Team it was recommended to Trustee Board that the 2012-13 team of Officers continue as a four which was approved on Monday, July 9th (yesterday).
Katy would have continued to be a valuable asset to the Students' Union after years of dedicated service which led her to being a Student Trustee last year and Chair of Student Council; her contribution will be missed. Myself and the team fully respect the decision that Katy has made and will approach the year with the same determination, excitement and drive to be the representatives that the student body deserve.
I would personally like to thank Katy for the time and dedication that she has given to the Students' Union over the past three years and I wish Katy all the best in her future career and will always consider her to be a part of the family at the Students' Union.
