Students' Union President Gary Richardson updates you on what the Officer team is up to this week
Movember: There are just two weeks left until we reach the end of November and it is not too late to get involved and raise money for the fantastic courses. You can get involved by joining the Staffs RAG network on Movember's website, either as an individual or as part of a team and by doing so you can win some fantastic prizes which has been supplied by HP Sauce and Gillette.
Staffs Housing Survey: On Monday, November 26th we will be launching the first ever Staffs Housing Survey to find out what students in Staffordshire think about the quality of accommodation that is provided during your time at University and what you receive for your rent. The survey is aimed at every student that lives in rented accommodation, whether that is with a Private Landlord, in University provided Halls of Residence or in a private Halls of Residence, and the best thing is by filling out the survey you will be able to win a weeks rent.
The survey will be running for two weeks until Friday, December 4th and you will be able to fill it out online or on a paper form as your Officer team and some of the Students' Union promotional team will be heading out with clipboards in hand to get your responses.
Monday, November 19th - The officer team begin the week in Stafford with the regular Monday morning meeting with the Students' Union senior managers where will discuss the last week and the upcoming week. I will be in a meeting about the Spring Elections and the marketing plan and doing a risk assessment for the Demo which is taking place on Wednesday. Rich will be preparing for the Quality committee meeting that he will be attending on Wednesday in place of Rochelle who will be joining me in London. Beth will be doing preparation work for the Students' Eats project and putting together plans for the Enterprise Scheme that she will be submitting to the Board of Trustees on December 11th. The whole officer team will also be out and about promote Wednesday's Demo.
Tuesday, November 20th - Beth begins the day meeting with the University Marketing team regarding the Team Staffs website. Rich has a one to one with our business development manager before joining the rest of the officer team promoting Demo in Stoke.
Wednesday, November 21st - DEMO DAY!!! Rochelle and me will be heading down to London with our students to raise our voice about the current situation regarding education and opportunities for students once they leave University. Beth will be attending as many BUCS fixtures as possible asking for both teams to have a photo taken with the We Support Demo 2012 banner that we have got produced. Rich will be in Stafford all day attending meetings that myself and Rochelle are unable to attend.
Thursday, November 22nd - I start the day with a meeting to discuss the Students' Union provisions for students that do not study at either Stoke or Stafford. The officer team have a meeting to review Wednesday's National Demo and if there is any instant outcomes. Rochelle is having a meeting with the Lounge and Legends venue managers to review the current provision, while Beth is meeting with University Careers and with a student that is leading on a Student Academic Partnership Project.
Friday, November 23rd - The end of the week brings a relatively quiet day for the Officer team, meaning that we will be able to catch up with emails. Rich is meeting with the GM to discuss next steps from the Students' Union Evaluation Initiative (SUEI) which we took part in last academic year. SUEI is the ofsted for Students' Union's ran by NUS with the aim of improving the services and activities delivered to our members. We then have our weekly Executive team meeting to review the outcomes of the week, any remaining action points and discuss any upcoming issues.
Saturday, November 24th - Rich and Lindsay, who is the Volunteering and Community Intern, will be in Stafford to do a Give It A Go session for the new computer recycling and refurbishment scheme that we have started as part of our Green Impact Excellence Initiative. This will be taking place from 10.30 - 4 in the Student Space in Stafford. For more information drop Rich an email or tweet.
