The opportunity
The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) is seeking new members for its Student Advisory Board. The Student Advisory Board is a great opportunity to influence the work of a national agency, meet like minded people and become more involved in the UK Higher Education sector.  
 
What's involved? 
The Student Advisory Board is made up of staff and students from across the UK who meet with QAA Board members, including CEO Anthony McClaran, to advise QAA on issues affecting students. The Student Advisory Board have so far discussed and had influence on:
How QAA presents review reports
QAA’s strategic plan
International student engagement
Consultations on NSS, public information and Higher Education Review

The Student Advisory Board will meet three times per academic year; meetings will be held in Gloucester at our head office, London at NUS HQ and Birmingham. Membership will last for two academic years. Full travel expenses will be paid in line with QAA policy. There is also the opportunity to get involved in other areas of work and attend interesting events in your role as a member of the SAB.
 
Who can apply? 
We welcome applications from elected sabbatical officers, registered students, Access to HE students and students who have graduated within the last 2 years. We’re also looking for applications from SU staff members. 
 
QAA want to ensure that the Student Advisory Board represents the widest possible range of students, and are therefore particularly keen to hear from applicants who are studying or have recently completed an Access to HE course, Higher Education students or student representatives from HE in FE providers, as well as students or student representatives from private sector universities and colleges. We also want to make sure we have members from across Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

To apply for a position on the Student Advisory Board, please fill in the application form available on QAA's website. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 29 July 2014 at midday. Applications should be emailed to studentengagement@qaa.ac.uk by the deadline.
