your vote matters make sure you're in

Living in halls or away from home? Wherever you’re going to be living on Election Day you can have your say - as long as you are on the electoral register.

As a student you can register at both your term time and home address, but you must register by Friday 20 November.

Registering to vote takes around 5 minutes, and all you need is your National Insurance Number (if you have one). To register visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or you can call the Electoral Services Unit at your local council.

If you’re not registered you cannot vote in the local government elections, the devolved governments elections if you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, and the Police and Crime Commissioner elections. All of the elections are taking place on Thursday 5 May 2016.

Not being on the electoral register will also affect your credit score which could have implications when applying for mortgages or even mobile phone contracts, so please register.
