The scam
A nasty email is going around asking students to click a link to confirm personal and account details. The email looks as if it is from Student Finance England, but the whole thing is fake.
The problem
If the scammers get your bank or personal details, they can use them to steal your money, your student funding, and your identity.
How to avoid scams like this
1) Remember that government websites and email addresses do not have .com at the end of them.
2) If an email asks for your personal details, do not give them. If an email asks you to put your personal details into a website, do not give them. If you think an email asking for your information might be real, contact the company it came from; but do not use the contact details on the email you think might be fake – look up the contact details some other way.
