Here's the Students' Union's stance regarding the University's consultation on its future plans.
Below is the Students' Union position on the University's consultation on the future of the Stafford and Stoke campuses:
The Students' Union fully supports Staffordshire University and the Board of Governors' efforts to research its plans for a multi-million pound investment. The Union understands the development would help make the University estate and facilities fit for purpose in the 21st century.
With the changing environment and expectations for higher education in the UK, we believe that the University is right to be exploring all the options for improving the academic and social experience for students at Staffordshire University.
As the consultation continues over the forthcoming months the Students' Union will continue to represent and influence the University based on the findings contained in the Student Viewfinder Survey, International Students Barometer and the National Student Survey; speaking to students and reviewing comments made through our website and suggestion scheme; and progress made at a national scale by the National Union of Students.
What we do know is that there is a difference in the quality of the experience between the campuses reported by students, and there is a need to continue to invest in improving the quality of the facilities.
Any final solution considered would need to address students' concerns around transport, gender balance, community, environment and overall experience.
We continue to welcome student feedback on this topic and encourage students to send us their views using our feedback page, emailing us at union@staffs.ac.uk or popping into the Students' Union offices to speak to an officer.
