Better Staffs Forum
The first Better Staffs Forum of the year took place yesterday (Wednesday 24 September) and below are the results from the discussion and debate.

Modesty Bags in Union shops
It was initially proposed that the Union shops must ensure that modesty bags, which hide the content of a front cover if it is deemed potentially offensive, are hidden from view. This was following a policy last year that called for the bags to be used on all men's magazines like FHM. The discussion then developed with forum members saying the policy should be applied to all magazines that have any nudity or risqué images on display. This was then put to the panel for agreement and it was passed unanimously seven votes to zero.

Lockable space on campus
Students have called for space on campus where they can store items big and small at their convenience. This could be anything from a small bag to archery equipment. The panel voted unanimously for an officer to look into this further and potentially identify spaces on campus that could be used for this purpose that are large enough and also open long enough for it to be convenient.

Later running minibus
A student has asked if the minibus can run later in the evening as it can be frustrating for students taking part in activities on the other campus when they have to leave early. The panel agreed 6 votes to 1 that an officer should explore the possibility of later buses with the University.

Meal Deals
A complaint was raised that Union shops were not always giving students the best value for money on products purchased as meal deals were not always applied. The belief was that the shop assistants were not loading the information into the till the right way so the deal was not applied correctly. A proposal was passed unanimously that the Union would ensure the current software correctly encompasses all offers in the shops or look into the viability of new software that works better.

The next Better Staffs Forum is in eight weeks time. In the meantime, if you have anything you would like to propose as a discussion point, you can do it here: http://www.staffsunion.com/betterstaffsforum/#tabideas
