Tom Hope
Vice President Tom Hope has been appointed to an NUS Oversight Board.

The Environmental Sustainability Direction and Oversight Board is a high-level think-tank on sustainability and social responsibility for NUS.

Tom, who leads on the Students' Union's Greenpad project – which won an Outstanding award for being in the top six in the country, is one of three Students' Union officers in the country selected for the board.

Over the next year Tom will work with the Board to scrutinise the work of NUS's Green team and help to form strategic partnerships with national organisations to improve environmental efforts in the Union sector.

The board meets four times a year formally with other work and informal meetings taking place around them.

After receiving the news of his appointment, Tom said he was delighted and ready to take on this new challenge.

"Staffordshire University Students' Union is already at the forefront of environmental practice and this position will allow me to extend the Union's influence further.

"The national perspective I will gain will hopefully help to improve green campaigns on campus and see Staffs lead the charge on tackling issues like climate change in future."
