Staffordshire University Students' Union is pleased to announce it has remained top of the league table for Million+ universities in the National Student Survey (NSS).
The Union scored 72% for the second year running when asking students at the university if they were satisfied with the Students' Union at their institution.
As a Million+ institution, one of many universities that has a history as a polytechnic or a college, the Union compares itself against fellow Million+ unions. This year it meant Staffs beat unions from Anglia Ruskin University, Bath Spa University and University of Sunderland to name a few.
The University's score dropped one point to 83%, putting them 7th out of 16 Million+ universities. The top scorer was Bath Spa University with 90%.
From a campus perspective the analysis we have done shows mixed results. Stoke students were 83% satisfied with the University and 80% satisfied with the Union. Stafford students were 85% satisfied with the University and 77% satisfied with the Union. Unfortunately we know this means the satellite campuses like Lichfield and Shrewsbury are much less satisfied, which explains the lower overall score.
So that the Union can improve in response to student feedback and hold the University to account where necessary, the Union is working hard over the summer analysing the data to get the full picture at a course and faculty level.
We hope to offer more comprehensive updates later in the summer and news on plans to publish reports that explain the data and the changes required as a result.
In the meantime if you have any specific NSS questions, please email union@staffs.ac.uk.
