Role Description

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to make everyone feel welcome and part of the family that makes Staffordshire University. Think about when you started university. Remember the amount of information you were given at once, remember trying to find places to eat, drink and study! Remember turning up to that first lecture late! Think about how you met new people, was this easy? Well this is where the Welcome Rep, dressed in dazzling purple, comes to the rescue. Our purple people are enthusiastic, friendly people reaming with confidence and the passion to make sure every student has a great day. You’ll be responsible for supporting events over the entire academic year, not forgetting Welcome Week itself of course!

What will I be doing?

- Providing support and managing events across the academic year ranging from Welcome Week, Give-it-a-Go sessions, Award Nights, Market Days and Trips to local attractions like Alton Towers!

- Developing a passion for helping others, learning how the Students’ Union works and making the student experience at Staffordshire University even more amazing!

- Working with a diverse team of crazy purple people, meeting new people constantly and importantly having fun!

Organisation Overview

Staffordshire University Students’ Union is a democratic organisation, working entirely for the benefit of students at the University and its partner organisations. In 2012 it became a registered charity, reg number 1149948. It is a non-profit making organisation and supports itself through the operation of trading services, including the venues and shops on campus, and a grant from the university. It uses its money to maintain student activities and re-invests into its services to provide bigger and better student opportunities. As soon as you enrol on your course and pick up your student card you automatically become a member of the Students’ Union. We have staff and volunteers who work entirely under the direction of you, the students, whether it is through your vote in referenda on submitting policies or by getting yourself elected to a full or part time officer post or committee.
