Wednesday 21st saw the heavens open which can only mean one thing: water logged pitches leading to postponed matches.

We saw both the men’s rugby team, men’s lacrosse and men’s football first and thirds matches postponed, in which a few of them went round supporting other teams that were playing and the rugby lads going on a team bonding trip to water world.

Down in London on Wednesday there was a peaceful march called ‘Demo2012’ protesting against higher fees, education cuts and unemployment. So I went round on the day getting teams to have a picture with banner if they supported the march.

Day started off with men’s badminton playing Nottingham Trent lads who were dressed out to the max. In pink. They sadly lost 6-2.

Men’s hockey started later than expected as UEA was stuck in traffic from their 5 hour long journey, so they had a cheeky team photo shoot before the match to pass the time. Was a close game and with five minutes to spare staffs pulled one back to draw 2-2.

Next the women’s teams all got in to full swing, with women’s netball thirds encountering Harper Adams and their first cheering on the side line who later played Wolverhampton’s first. They both had nail biting close matches and there was only a few goals in it but sadly lost out in both.

The women’s hockey ended up being in a war zone against Nottingham fifths, with two of our girls coming off injured with our captain being taken to hospital. Staffs played out of their skin but sadly lost 5-2 to the ladies in green. Both of the players are making a speedy recovery.

To finish the day was our men’s basketball that are flying high top of their league. They played Birmingham City firsts, starting slow but never falling behind and by the second quarter our lads were really making head way to 93-36 win. 6 games played. 6 wins followed.

As for our away teams sadly our netballs seconds just lost out and our women’s basketball made the trek across England to play UEA and sadly lost too. However we did get a mega win away from home in the form of our men’s tennis team who smashed Derby’s team 12-0. They are currently smashing their league- keep up the good work guys!

Our Stafford teams were in action on Wednesday but sadly football was cancelled due to weather and rugby didn’t have a game. Men’s basketball summed up the day with a lost to Lincoln and women’s netball put on a good fight but lost to Worcester ladies.

Well done to all teams whether it was a win or a loss, you guys looked swish in your new kit!

Keep your eyes peeled as we have 10 teams in the last 16 of the cup and our men’s fencing in the last 16 of the trophy. Good luck to you all!

Lastly, a reminder about the sports forum which is where you guys can have your say about everything sport! The sports exec will lead on from this so if you’re interested in helping shape your sports teams at the university then come along and put your name down. It’s in the September room (in the Students Union) at 5pm on Thursday the 6th December.

Glow in the dark badminton? Can you handle it? Try it out this Thursday 29th November 5 till 7 at the Stanley Matthews.

Keep up the training guys! Only 114 days till Varsity. #TEAMSTAFFS
