Well to use a tired editorial cliché, what a month it’s been. We can all book holidays for next summer now and all men will be currently making excuses as to why they can’t help redecorate the house as the home nations have failed to make Euro 2008. More about that later.
A bit closer to home and all of us will be feeling the strain of deadlines with only another week or two until the end of term.
Many of us will have made our Christmas lists and are now waiting for Santa Claus to do the rest. This month we only want two things at GK; our degrees and a regular newspaper.
However, with another issue comes other issues, but I refuse to spend another editorial telling you about what has gone wrong, I will just say that it’s all sorted and after Christmas GK should be problem free (touch wood).
Leading up to Christmas let’s forget all the problems and look at what GK has to offer you this month.
Barclay Quarton has cast his eye over another month of news at Staffs and looks at how the LRV may be closed down if we’re not quiet walking home at 4am (so if you want to sing Mariah Carey do it at home not on the way).
In Lifestyle Lauren and co let you know how to survive the party season.
On the music side Richard Cartey oversees interviews with Hardfi, The Editors and Hundreds Reasons. Plus all the usual singles, albums and gigs.
And right at the back of the paper Michael guides us through a month of uni based sport, Stefan Curtis has even dropped by to give his opinion on England’s failures.
Additionally, GKnews would like to welcome a few new members to the team. There is the new Features editor, Ashleigh Scott, a new Games editor, Simon Ford and a new Film editor, Jon Bradley.
They bring with them everything from classic Christmas films such as Home Alone, through brand new games such as Assassin’s Creed right to the controversy surrounding the new film The Golden Compass.
So grab your mince pies and sing along to Slade and most of all have yourself a very Merry Christmas, I know we will be.
Merry Christmas
Jon & Jason
