As the semester chugs on, the student officers are still being kept busy with events to plan and people to meet. Emma and Bal might be away from the office, but the work continues as we caught up with Ash and Jaime-Lee to see what they’ve been up to.

Monday was spent in Stafford where I had meetings with the University for designing the future.

Then I was back in Stoke on Tuesday looking at the NSS and SVS participation by faculty. We looked at how the union can help support the uptake of students doing the survey.

After that it was the officer show at 1pm on OMG, where I answered questions about being an officer and told people why they should run in the Leadership Race. Students were also given an update on sports fixtures and results, as well as an update on how all our campaigns are going.

Wednesday I was working on a Leadership Race video with StaffsTV and on Thursday I came in the morning for few meetings, before I took some time off for annual leave.

Every officer has their own network that they facilitate. The one I represent is LGBT+, they’ve got quite a big month coming up as it’s LGBT History Month. So there’s a lot of prep and planning going on; there’ll be a load of events on campus. There’ll also be a theme for the Mukky Duck and Gobble at the end of the month as part of that.

On Thursday I had a coffee slot with one of the managers, we were updating all the staff on the strategic away day we had a week or two back.

I also had my strand meeting last week. Every officer has their own strand that they focus on: mine’s ‘engaging you’, which is more of the democratic side, how we can engage students in the Leadership Race and how we can get more candidates.

It’s quite busy and some of the officers aren’t around at the moment, so it’s going to be a lot of paperwork this week coming. But I’ll be meeting with students and staff just as normal.
