In the past couple of days we have been to both Stoke and Stafford campuses and photographed student debt. The amount of debt our students face is shocking and surprising! We have added the amount of debt at both campuses and these total more than 1.5 million pounds!
This is only accumulated by 76 students out of the 15,000 or so at Staffordshire University. These 76 students are now on average £20,000 in debt each! I find this very frightening that so few people could amount so much debt, We will be photographing as many students as possible over the next few weeks, so please if we ask do allow us to photograph YOUR debt - you may be surprised yourself!
Thinking about this debt, what could you buy for £20K? Deposit for a mortgage? A car, for example a Mazda MX5? A holiday with friends to Mexico? Holiday home in Egypt? Rolex Watch? Diamonds? Or even a New York shopping spree?...Just to suggest a few... all these are great, but in reality this is money that YOU will owe the government by the time you graduate from university!
