The Students’ Union is run by students for students – that means we’re completely dedicated to representing students at Staffs and helping provide what they want from their student experience. That covers everything from advice and support, great venues and events to representation, sports clubs, activities and even a dedicated student media service.
We’re constantly striving to ensure the best possible experience for all students at Staffs and free membership of the Students’ Union is automatic on enrolling at Staffordshire University. That means our students get to have their say in what we do and how we do it.
Staffordshire University Students’ Union is a democratic organisation, working entirely for the benefit of students.
The Students' Union sponsors and supports a diverse range of student-run groups. These include both competitive and recreational sports groups, special interest groups, academic societies and some that we are unable to categorise! Hi,
We are Staffordshire University Netball Team (Stafford Campus). We are a lovely bunch of friendly girls who enjoy playing netball, like having a giggle when exercising and socialising. We welcome anyone to the team, you don’t have to be able to play netball to join, people in the past have joined just to meet other females in Stafford and to improve their fitness.
We have training sessions twice a week and weekly fixtures against other universities in our BUCS league (midlands 6A), these matches are played Wednesday Afternoons. We are also aiming to arrange friendlies against nearby Universities and local teams and enter into tournaments held across the Midlands.
Over the past few years our highest achievement was winning our BUCS league for the first time, whilst remaining unbeaten. The 08/09 team was also crowned Staffordshire University’s Club of the Year, therefore awarding the team for their hard work both in training and on the court throughout the season. 2009/2010 season started with a virtually new team, but we finished with a respectable mid-table position, due to the bonding that happened during the training sessions and the socials. 2010/2011 season started with more members than the previous year, including international students that had never played netball before; again we bonded through training sessions and social events. Everyone’s skills improved during the season and we finished with another mid-table position.
We are looking to build on our success of the last few years, working as a team, getting the results and playing hard on the court, but also having a good time while doing so.
The social events can be anything from a movie night to going into town and are fun and a good way to get to know your team mates. As well as weekly socials we have a yearly tour, the destination can be anything from staying in the UK going to places like Brighton and Newquay or going aboard to Kos or Malta. Tour can involve playing netball but this depends on whether the team wants to play netball or just wants to have a group holiday.
