The Students’ Union is run by students for students – that means we’re completely dedicated to representing students at Staffs and helping provide what they want from their student experience. That covers everything from advice and support, great venues and events to representation, sports clubs, activities and even a dedicated student media service.
We’re constantly striving to ensure the best possible experience for all students at Staffs and free membership of the Students’ Union is automatic on enrolling at Staffordshire University. That means our students get to have their say in what we do and how we do it.
Staffordshire University Students’ Union is a democratic organisation, working entirely for the benefit of students.
The Students' Union sponsors and supports a diverse range of student-run groups. These include both competitive and recreational sports groups, special interest groups, academic societies and some that we are unable to categorise! Starting this year, the Students' Union will be holding an Annual Students' Forum. The forum is the perfect opportunity for all students to come and hear what the Union is doing and give your opinion about what it should do. The forum consists of a few sections that we must include by law, but then the forum opens up to discuss the issues that matter most to students. This year we have identified car parking, lectures on a Wednesday afternoon and the Summer Ball as the biggest concerns for students. However, because it is a Students' Forum, if you think there are more important subjects to discuss, then you have the power to change it.
So if you want to get involved what do you need to know? If you want to submit an item to discuss, you need to send them to suchair@staffs.ac.uk by Monday 5 December @ 9am. All discussion points must be sent as an attached Word file, they must have a title and must include a statement (350 word maximum) explaining what you want to discuss and why. Any items sent in after this time will not be accepted.

To help us book the right amount of transport for Stafford students and to help us understand how many students we are expecting, please "purchase" these FREE tickets to the forum. For Stafford students, those who purchase a ticket will get priority on any transport booked. If you cannot purchase this ticket, you can still get on the coach, but obviously there is a limited amount of seats! The return coach will be waiting until the meeting finishes to take people back to Stafford.
If you are travelling on the coach from Stafford - it will leave at 5pm from the on campus bus stop.
The first Annual Students Forum to be held on Wednesday, 7th December 2011 at 6pm in LT001 in the Ashley Building.
If you have an item for discussion please submit it by 9am, Monday 5th December with a supporting statement of 350 words saying what you want to do and why. Items will not be accepted after this time. Email these as a word document to suchair@staffs.ac.uk.
