What does Student Council do?

The Students' Union Council is one of the most important aspects of the Students Union. It exists to discuss policy, create direction, review budgets and most importantly to represent the Union's 16,000 members ensuring that your issues and concerns are being addressed.

Council meets monthly to discuss matters arising and to act on student feedback such as the demand for a 24/7 library service, which was subsequently successfully implemented by the University. It acts as a forum for debate with over 40 student representatives bringing student concerns to the table. It listens and acts on your behalf, representing student interests at all levels.

I want to be involved with Student Council, what next?

If you want to run for a position you need to nominate yourself for a postion in the November or March elections. Please contact Katie Wynne k.a.wynne@staffs.ac.uk  for more information.

Vacant positions are currently up for grabs during the November by-elections, and all positions are available for election in March.

I want my issue to be discussed at Student Council...

Well, all you have to think about is...

WHAT is it that you want to talk about?

WHY is it an issue for Staffs Students?

WHO needs to do something about it?

You can send these thoughts to be circulated to your Student Councillors beforehand by emailing it to k.a.wynne@staffs.ac.uk  so everyone will have chance to think about your ideas before the meeting.

The deadlines for each meeting are below, but if you miss this deadline, please come along to the next meeting and when the Chair asks towards the beginning of the meeting whether anyone has 'any other business' please let the Chair know what you would like to discuss and there will be time to do this towards the end of the meeting.
