Hey! I’m Rosalie Edge, a first year Law and Philosophy student. I come from a small town in Northern Ireland and it was only once I came to Staffs University that I discovered such vastness of diversity and culture, in a student body I am proud to say I am a part of. I want you to discover this too. I would like to be your Equal Opportunities Officer so that ALL STUDENTS canenjoy ‘the student experience’, without prejudice or discrimination of any kind.

If elected, I will support and provide representation for students from all backgrounds. This will not be limited by race, religion, sexuality, ability, gender or age... I want to know what makes YOU different, and what you want from YOUR STUDENTS’ UNION.

I will be the voice for groups, societies and individuals who feel they are being under represented and let students know what opportunities are available to them.

The students who miss out most on what’s happening within the union are those who live locally, have dependents or work. Whether because of transport and time issues, insufficient communication or even just lack of choice, these problems HAVE to be addressed in order to facilitate ALL STUDENTS.

As your officer, I will not just wait for you to tell me what you want – I WILL be proactive and seek out where and how your union can improve on providing equality of opportunity for all its valued members!

Issues I will address include:

·         Improving food choices on menus for all tastes and requirements (such as vegetarian and vegan and international choices)

·         Availability and accessibility of resources within academic faculties

·         Providing a greater range of union events and activities

·         Accommodating different music tastes at the LRV

·         Increasing communication between students and the union (including the methods used)

·         Promoting a fun and safe university environment for both work and play

·         Students ALWAYS coming first!!
