If elected I will represent the interests of the International Students at Staffs University. The International community makes up a large proportion of students at Staffs, but are often under-represented and marginalised. I hope to change this and improve the representation and interests of International Students within the Student Union as well as working to bring about crucial change within the Student movement to get International Students more accepted within the Student community, so that they feel less excluded from non-International Students
I will work with the Full-time officers and the Campaigns Collective and the International Students groups, to ensure that the interests of students at Staffs and globally are well represented and given the best education possible as well as the best University experience, where they feel welcomed and involved.
I will campaign for:
· A Union and University that deals with racism on campus as well as standing against the BNP, EDL and other fascist groups which greatly affect the welfare of International Students here at Staffordshire University.
· Free education for all, but notably for International Students who are greatly affected by the much higher costs involved in coming to study at Staffordshire University.
· Better representation of International Students within the Union and Union venues/facilities.
· Against the education cuts which will affect the number of International Students from coming in dramatically
· A Union that is anti-War, working with the Stop the War Coalition and fighting for the withdrawal from Afghanistan, but also in consideration of our fellow students across the world (especially Palestine).
· To stand against government plans and initiatives to spy on the international students within Universities
· Introduce and work more for a variety of diversity events that involve students from all communities across the globe
· Campaign for solidarity with the oppressed
· Campaign for English courses for International Students
