The Students’ Union is run by students for students – that means we’re completely dedicated to representing students at Staffs and helping provide what they want from their student experience. That covers everything from advice and support, great venues and events to representation, sports clubs, activities and even a dedicated student media service.
We’re constantly striving to ensure the best possible experience for all students at Staffs and free membership of the Students’ Union is automatic on enrolling at Staffordshire University. That means our students get to have their say in what we do and how we do it.

Hello, my name is Lawrence Parkes and I am running to be your Commercial Services Officer for next year. You may have seen me around working at the Students Union and I want to take my work further and become your officer. We need a Commercial Services Officer that everyone can relate to, and that understands the needs and concerns of our students. My work at the Student Union has helped me to see and understand a wide range of the student base, and I want to bring that experience to the role. I am not running for Commercial Services to satisfy my own ends, and I thoroughly intend to guide the Union in the right direction for my fellow students, to ensure that everyone gets the best out of university in terms of not just their education, but also in terms of the brilliant social life our university offers. In previous years, promises have been made but not always fulfilled, as your officer I will have realistic and achievable goals that will benefit Staffs as a whole.
When elected, Aidan Jeal and I will campaign:
• Against even more increases in tuition fees, and for a free education for all. • Against all forms of racism. • For more gender-neutral courses at the Stafford campus. • To further improve and diversify the nightlife on both campuses, and include opportunities for ethnic club nights.
But above all, we will unreservedly listen to every single student who has any idea, concern, and problem with the university. As Commercial Services Officer, I will:
• Continue the hard work done by Rebecca McLellan, and further improve the links between our Students Union and its partners. • Push the ethos of Fair Trade across both campuses • Introduce Halal and Kosher food to cater for our multi ethnic and religious student base • Build on the success of our previous Summer Balls to bring you an unforgettable night to end the year.
