Christopher Taylor

For the past few years we FCET students have had no real voice in the Student Union, either because we had no Representative at all or because our Rep was practically invisible. I think it’s time that changed, don’t you? That is why I am running for the FCET Faculty Rep.
Campaigns for a better future are definitely noble causes, but what real effect do they have on us now? We are here NOW, our issues are affecting us NOW and we want our Union to help us deal with them NOW. I strongly believe that together we can make this happen.
Many issues affect us each day, whether it be lack of study space, high FYP printing costs or disturbances in lectures, just because they seem like minor issues to others, doesn’t mean that they don’t have a major impact on you as an FCET Student. The Student Union needs to see this and bring its efforts closer to home, it’s time the smaller issues stopped being ignored in favour of grandiose campaigns that show no real benefit to the individual student.
During the last year as an Academic Rep within FCET I found that we can only do so much to help our fellow students fight for the issues that are affecting them and their ongoing education and that’s only if the faculty listens to us. As FCET’s Union Rep I believe I can change this, I want to maximise the potential of our Academic Reps, make sure they are getting the support they need to assist our students and make sure every voice is heard. And to make sure this happens I want to see the Union’s FCET Rep more involved with the reps on each FCET course, no matter where that course is based and ensuring they are fully supported.
Just ask yourself do you want to see the changes actually made? Do you want your voice to be heard?

If the answers are yes...Vote Chris Taylor for FCET Rep.
