On Monday 4 December 2023\, to coincide with the UN COP28 Climate Neg otiations\, the Carbon Literacy Project is holding the biggest ever clima te education-and-action training event.

\n\n

As part of this Staff ordshire University is running a &lsquo\;Big Community Carbon Literacy Tr aining Day&rsquo\;. This event is open to the community of Shelton\, as w ell as individuals from the wider city of Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas.

\n\n

The training event will run from 10am to 2.30pm on Mond ay 4 December 2023 in Staffordshire University&rsquo\;s The Catalyst Buil ding (Leek Road\, Stoke-on-Trent) and it will include a low-carbon buffet lunch! Please arrive at 9.45am for a 10am start\, and the event will tak e place in The Catalyst Gallery.

The free course will introduce you to the basics of climate change science and what yo u can do to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on an individual\, community and organisational basis.

The training is sui table for all with an interest in climate change. Participants who comple te the training and a low carbon pledge form will be given the opportunit y to become certified as &lsquo\;carbon literate&rsquo\;. There is a &pou nd\;10 fee for the certification. There is no fee for Staffordshi re University students\, and we can waive the fee for a limited number of low-income participants.

Staffordshire University is a Bronze Award Carbon Literate Organisation. This event is part of our co mmitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in partnership with the commu nity in which the University is based. There is a small amount of prep wo rk to be completed for the workshop\, details of which will be sent once you register for the event.
