Message from VC Professor Liz Barnes and President of the SU Jaime-Lee Cunningham

We are greatly saddened by the attack which occurred at the Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena yesterday evening.

This is all the more shocking given our close proximity to it. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those killed and injured.

As a University, we want to offer our support to any students and staff who may have been impacted by this incident. The following is available:

  • The official Emergency number for those concerned about loved ones or anyone who may have been in the area: 0161 856 9400.
  • On campus advice and counselling for students: (01782) 294977.
  • Staff can contact Right Management, the University employee assistance programme provider for confidential advice and support, on their 24 hours helpline: 0800 1116387.
  • Staff and students can call the University Chaplain Mick Williams on 07887 655487.

Staff who have been personally affected by the attack in Manchester, are urged to contact Human Resources on ext 2700 in addition to their line manager.
