One thing university students often don’t realise when they first arrive is that they automatically become members of their students’ union.
They might know the union exists, they might even know it organises a few events or runs the student bar, but very rarely they realise just how much they can achieve being part of it.
Events
Like we said before, Staffordshire University Students’ Union runs all sorts of events during Welcome Week and across the year, but if you have plans to run your own events, maybe as part of a society or liberation network, we can help you achieve it.
In the past this has included the Diversity Fashion Show, our Chinese New Year events and even the annual varsity with neighbours Keele.
Student-Led Groups
The students’ union here at Staffs is responsible for all student-led groups, from sports clubs and societies, to our Liberation Networks. It’s a requirement that these groups are open to ALL students, so just pick whatever takes your interest.
We also facilitate students starting their own student group, whether you feel under-represented as a majority or just have a hobby or skill that plenty of other students will want to get involved with too.
Representation
You might already know that one of the students’ union’s purposes is to represent each and every student, ensuring they have a voice, but did you know you can have an active part in that representation?
We give students the opportunity to change the face of Staffordshire University in a number of roles such as trustee, elected officer and NUS delegate, where you get to represent us on the national stage and take your issues and concerns right to the top. When you work with us, you can exact a huge positive impact on the people around you.
Aside from these three areas, students can find jobs, advice and support from the students’ union, with so much more to be discovered.
