The Students’ Union is run by students for students – that means we’re completely dedicated to representing students at Staffs and helping provide what they want from their student experience. That covers everything from advice and support, great venues and events to representation, sports clubs, activities and even a dedicated student media service.
We’re constantly striving to ensure the best possible experience for all students at Staffs and free membership of the Students’ Union is automatic on enrolling at Staffordshire University. That means our students get to have their say in what we do and how we do it.

Legends and The Lounge are the Union's Beaconside campus venues. The Lounge is a recently refurbished, stylish bar serving great food and coffee as well as the traditional bar refreshments seven days a week. We are Staffs Uni Fencing Club, a suprisingly social group of people that like to regularly hit each other with swords (in a responsible way for any S.U. staff reading this). Whether you want to compete or just come along for a bit of fun, fencing in an exciting sport where you can meet many new friends - it's a little hard to talk through masks and clashing swords but that doesn't stop us trying!
We currently train in the Sir Stanley Matthews sports hall at the following times:
Tuesdays: 16:00 - 18:00
Saturdays: 16:00-18:00
Sundays: 15:30 -17:00
We provide coaching in all three fencing weapons, Foil, Epee and Sabre and welcome both beginners and experienced fencers, with regular beginner sessions taking place throughout the year. We are an increasingly competitive fencing club, with members regularly taking part in regional and national tournaments alongside our hugely successful Men and Women's Fencing Teams.
