The Students’ Union is run by students for students – that means we’re completely dedicated to representing students at Staffs and helping provide what they want from their student experience. That covers everything from advice and support, great venues and events to representation, sports clubs, activities and even a dedicated student media service.
We’re constantly striving to ensure the best possible experience for all students at Staffs and free membership of the Students’ Union is automatic on enrolling at Staffordshire University. That means our students get to have their say in what we do and how we do it.
Staffordshire University Students’ Union is a democratic organisation, working entirely for the benefit of students.
The Students' Union sponsors and supports a diverse range of student-run groups. These include both competitive and recreational sports groups, special interest groups, academic societies and some that we are unable to categorise! The Pole and Hula Society is all about combining fun and fitness together! Both Pole and Hula are a great way to tone up and build up strength - the best bit is, you don't need to be a sporty person to do either!
As long as you're up for a laugh and you don't mind a little exercise you can easily join the society! You can be upside down on a pole, or twirling a couple of hoops around in no time!
We welcome all ages, don't be shy about coming on your own either, as well as Carnie, Josie and Myself, there are the most friendly instructors! You will also meet others with the same interests and will soon be hanging around on the pole.
If you feel up to it, around June/July of each year a show is put on so we can all show off our skills!
All of our instructors are amazing at what they do and really enthusiastic! They've been on Britain's Got Talent and been in various competitions. In fact they have recently been in Stoke Gay Pride!
You can learn more about them by going to the pole fit page on facebook or their official site.
There is no need to feel insecure about yourself. You can wear what you feel comfortable in. All we ask is you leave your legs and arms bare for grip, and so shorts and a tank top are suggested.
Tuesdays 5-6 pm
Mondays 7.30-8.30pm or 8.30-9.30pm
If you have okayed it with Faye you may be able to do lessons on other days but you will have to check! The date above will be the official society day. No experience is necessary. Groups are split into beginners, beginner advanced, intermediate and intermediate advanced.
