The Students’ Union is run by students for students – that means we’re completely dedicated to representing students at Staffs and helping provide what they want from their student experience. That covers everything from advice and support, great venues and events to representation, sports clubs, activities and even a dedicated student media service.
We’re constantly striving to ensure the best possible experience for all students at Staffs and free membership of the Students’ Union is automatic on enrolling at Staffordshire University. That means our students get to have their say in what we do and how we do it.

The Students' Union sponsors and supports a diverse range of student-run groups. Legends and The Lounge are the Union's Beaconside campus venues. The Lounge is a recently refurbished, stylish bar serving great food and coffee as well as the traditional bar refreshments seven days a week. Squeeze Box is a vibrant and comfortable outlet, providing great service, quality and value. This fantastic Students' Union outlet serves freshly prepared hot and cold food throughout the day, from breakfast, through lunch and as well as afternoon tea. We have developed the entire menu this year to include new items such as breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea specials at a discounted price, along with a 'Create Your Own' option for both food and smoothies, giving our vegetarian and vegan customers a wider range of tasty items. We have also introduced jacket potatoes and freshly prepared healthy milkshakes, along with frappucinnos and iced tea & coffee.
We have daily food specials too, such as the classic Ploughman's Lunch, Soups of the Day, and Ice Cream Sundaes, all competitively priced. Freshly brewed fair-trade hot drinks are available all day, and we offer a loyalty card where every 8th hot drink or smoothie purchased gets you a drink for free. There is a great 'Meal Deal' offer too, where if you spend £3.49 on any one food item, you get 50p off any hot or cold prepared drink. You can find the full menu below. That's not all. 'Squeeze Box - IN A BOX' is our freshly prepared buffet facility (for 8 persons or more) which we offer to customers who may require refreshments for a group of people during the day. It is an ideal solution for a Club or Society as a take away food option for matches or events. We offer a 'Keep it Simple', 'Standard' or 'Premium' option, and prices start from just £3.45 per head, We deliver to anywhere in Stoke at the time that suits you best.
