About Movember

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousand's of men's faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of Movember every year is to raise awareness of Men's health and to raise vital funds, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

November Facts

Movember started in Australia in 2003

Over 112,000 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas got on board in the UK alone.

Currently there are 39 students apart of the Staffs RAG network

Last year £11.7 million was raised in the UK

Since the beginning of the month guys and girls (also known as mo bros and mo sistas) have been registering on the movember website and our students and Students' Union staff have registered to take part in the Staffs RAG network which is a group of students who are collectively raising money for men's health causes, by growing, grooming and waxing a moustache while seeking donations and sponsorships to keep growing the mo throughout the whole of the month of Movember.

Movember in the UK

The funds raised by people in the UK support the number one and two male specific cancers – prostate and testicular cancer. The funds raised are directed to programmes run directly by Movember and their men's health partners, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research. Together, these channels work together to ensure that the funds that are raised throughout the month are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programmes in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.
