Emma wins International Student of the Year

Staffordshire University Students' Union's Vice President Emma Simeng Zhou has been awarded International Student of the Year. 
 
Emma was nominated for the award, which was announced at the NUS/UKCISA Internationalisation Awards, by the University's International Office. 
 
The Union's new Vice President has been extremely busy since she started studying at Staffordshire University. Emma worked with the International Office for some time to help them improve the transition for international students, she has been a peer mentor for some time and became head of the peer mentors, Emma founded the One World Society that encourages students to experience different cultures, she was instrumental in organising the University's Chinese New Year celebrations, she worked with an academic on a Chinese Voice of Social Care project which won her the Best Collaborative Award at the Union's Student Experience Awards and she volunteers with Stoke-on-Trent College to prepare students visiting China. 
 
Receiving the award Emma said: "Many thanks to Tracy Walker and Hassan Azeez (International Office) who nominated me. I could not achieve what I have done without your consistent support!"
 
The University's International Office said: "Emma we are proud of you and all that you achieved in such a short time here at Staffs! You are the ideal international student and this award recognises that you are the top notch student of the year 2015 across the UK."
