A Royal Television Society Award winning student from Staffordshire University has entered a Sky Arts competition to get another title to his name.

The Sky Arts Stings Student Competition is designed to find the best animation and design students in the UK, by tasking them to design a 20 second video that displays or references the word "Arts". The winner will receive a £1000 cash prize and their work will air on the Sky Arts HD Channels with an on-air credit.

20-year-old Andy Bell is a first year Stop Animation student at Staffordshire University, and has been doing animation since the age of 10.

Andy said, “Art was like the only subject I was ever good at, then I studied Interactive Media at Cleveland College of Art and Design before (Staffs) which is in Middlesbrough.

“I won a Royal Television Society Award in my first year there for an animation I made called Pandora's Box, which I also have a tattoo of!”

When asked about why he chose Staffs, Andy said: “Doing Stop Motion Animation here was the clear choice, because it's one of the only university’s that specialise in it.

“All the work here from previous students is just incredible, and the support from our tutors to create what we want is better than anywhere I've been before.”

Everyone here at Staffs Students’ Union wishes Andy the best of luck, and if you’d like to look at any more of his work, you can access his portfolio here: http://bit.ly/1jJ2MTx
