The Students' Union and Staffordshire University are delighted to announce a £150,000 investment in The Lounge and Legends to completely refurbish it.
The majority of the works will take place in The Lounge, along with a full refurbishment of all of the toilet facilities in both Legends and The Lounge. Students returning in September will see significant improvements across many areas.
The investment includes a brand new floor being laid in both The Lounge and Legends nightclub and locally produced, solid oak tables and leather furniture replacing all of the old and tired furniture, giving customers much greater comfort as they relax and enjoy great food and drink.
For the tech fans, The Lounge is being fitted with an HD projector and a 5 metre screen for customers to enjoy live television and films. There will also be the opportunity for first generation console gaming on a new big screen in The Other Room, which will be great for groups of gamers.
The bar in The Lounge will be treated and re-varnished and the tills are being moved so they are front-facing, giving all customers better service from staff.
New blinds will be fitted on all the windows to give The Lounge more control over lighting, and with new and enhanced lighting installed, illuminate the venue better at any time of day or night.
A new carpeted, seating area will be introduced, allowing people to relax and enjoy their food and drink in a more chilled space.
Plus all the walls will have a fresh lick of paint and new wallpaper introduced to give The Lounge a warm and welcoming feeling.
It is also hoped that the current cash machine will be replaced with a new facility that is free to withdraw cash, along with new Chip and PIN facilities to make card payments at the tills.
Finally all the toilets in Legends and The Lounge will be completely renovated, with everything replaced with brand new facilities.
Most importantly though The Lounge will continue to serve great food and drink at great value prices.
President Gary Richardson said this was the boost The Lounge and Legends needed to make it the best place on campus any time of the day.
"With its diverse, all day food and drink menu, cocktails and great entertainment in the evenings, Stafford students are going to enjoy an amazing experience from September 2013. In this competitive market, the Union has to continually invest to keep The Lounge and Legends as the best place in Stafford and the new improvements easily achieve this in my opinion."
