A massive well done to everyone and a massive thank you to Jack Phillips for the incredible work on the event. We Caught up with jack to get some words from him about the event:

What Inspired you to hold this event?

“What inspired me to hold this event was having previously done them before and knowing how fun they are to take part in. I thought that after deadlines, it would relieve a lot of stress from students.”

How did you come up with the idea for a 24 hour Game-A-Thon?

“What inspired me to hold this event was having previously done them before and knowing how fun they are to take part in. I thought that after deadlines, it would relieve a lot of stress from students.”

Any highlights from the event for yourself?

“One of the most memorable highlights of the gaming marathon would have been raising over £1000 for the charity. It was such a thrilling moment.”

How do you think this event has impacted SpecialEffect?

“The impact that I hope this event has caused by raising more than £1000+ would be that the charity organisation SpecialEffect can continue to support and work with disabled people to allow them to do what they love and enjoy. Having raised this much money will allow them to support multiple people and I am so grateful and pleased that they can do that, as that was my intent.”

Any Plans to do this again?

“I would absolutely love to host an event such as this again in the future. However this time, it would be properly planned and well set out with times of events, pre-set ups of all of the streaming equipment and monitors in place for all who bring consoles. Whether it be for SpecialEffect or another charity, I would absolutely love to contribute towards them in a similar way.”

How do you feel about having raised over £1000?

“This was one of the most incredible feelings. Having raised over £1000 for SpecialEffect was thrilling, I never set a target goal for this as I didn’t think I’d raise a lot of money, given the fact I thought that students would have not bothered coming in for it. Having students willing to take part and raise so much money for the charity and attend was exhilarating. Knowing that I had raised over £1000 for a charitable organisation felt incredible as I never thought I would raise such a high amount of money. I am so thankful to everybody that helped reach the donation amount.”
