Proud to Shout About is a platform for students to celebrate their successes in being part of the union. Whether it’s running societies or simply moments that make you proud, this is the space to share them. It’s all about highlighting the effort, dedication, and passion that students put into their university life and giving them the recognition they deserve.

On 1 October, FACS Society hosted a fingerprinting laboratory refresher session, giving students the opportunity to revisit the fundamentals of fingerprint examination and get some practical experience in forensics.

The session was open to everyone, whether you study forensic science or simply have an interest in the subject. Students learned about how fingerprints can be developed, visualised and examined, before practising the techniques themselves in a relaxed environment.

With support from former committee manager Chloe and lab technician Amy, students were able to ask questions, share techniques and learn from one another. It was also a chance to refresh knowledge from their courses and build practical confidence.

The session was particularly useful for our third years, who had a mock crime scene the following day. It gave them the opportunity to revisit fingerprinting techniques before putting their skills into practice.

It also provided an introduction to an area of forensics that students may not otherwise have had the chance to explore, making it a useful and enjoyable session for everyone who attended.

A big thank you to everyone who came along, and to Chloe and Amy for helping us out!
