Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Who runs the Students' Union?

You.

Every year you elect 4 students, just like you, through the annual Leadership Race to lead the Students' Union. They deliver the game-changers, influencing your University experience on a daily basis and in the longer term too.

The Officers are supported by a team of core staff, student staff members and volunteers working hard in our venues and shops, supporting students through our advice centre and helping you to get involved and make the most of your time at Staffs.

Four students also volunteer as Student Trustees on our Trustee Board during their studies, these meetings give them the opportunity to provide student-focused feedback at meetings to ensure you remain the key focus in our goals as we progress forwards.

Who are this years' Officers?

Our four Staffs students, much like yourself, are elected to lead and shape the direction of the Students' Union. You can learn more about each member of the team on our Elected Officer pages.

They are creating game-changers on the issues that matter to you! So if you see them out and about, why not stop them for a chat, or add your big ideas to our online Better Staffs Forum.

I still can't login to the Students' Union website?
Have you registered a guest account?
If you have registered an account on the Students' Union website, the system will detect a duplicate and temporally block both accounts either once your student data comes across after completing online enrolment or is already within the dataset. This is because the system looks up all accounts with the same first name, last name and date of birth. This usually gets resolved by a union staff member every few days. If you need access to the website urgently, please email union@staffs.ac.uk with your student number

We are continuing to support students during the current Covid-19 pandemic. As you will understand, in order to prevent the spread of the virus, we are only offering face-to-face advice in crisis situations. However, we can arrange appointments through Microsoft Teams or we can call you.

All students have access to Microsoft Office 365 which you can log into with your University account. This includes the MS Teams collaboration tool.

Advisers will be able to contact you by voice call or video link, even if they are working away from the university and do not have access to the phone network. Teams can also be accessed from a web browser if you don’t have the software.

However, if you have a smartphone you can download the Teams app from the App Store or Google Play. It will allow you to connect with an adviser using your mobile phone like any other messenger app. This may be preferable if you aren’t near a computer.
