Something spooky has been going on in Verve: FACS investigates.
Proud to Shout About is a platform for students to celebrate their successes in being part of the union. Whether it’s running societies or simply moments that make you proud, this is the space to share them. It’s all about highlighting the effort, dedication, and passion that students put into their university life and giving them the recognition they deserve.
FACS was delighted to host a fun and interactive Pumpkin Autopsy event, bringing together students from across the university in collaboration with several university societies. Combining creativity, collaboration and a forensic twist on Halloween, the event provided a fantastic opportunity for students to connect, develop new friendships and celebrate the spooky season together.
Participants were invited to get hands-on by carving their own pumpkins, showcasing their artistic talents and putting their creativity to the test. The event brought together students from a range of courses and societies, encouraging them to share ideas, work collaboratively and engage with one another in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Beyond the pumpkin carving, the event reflected FACS’ commitment to fostering an inclusive and connected university community. By collaborating with other societies, they aimed to create opportunities for students to meet new people, explore shared interests and enjoy university life beyond the lecture theatre. It was wonderful to see so many students getting involved, embracing the Halloween spirit and making the most of an activity that encouraged both creativity and connection.
Sustainability was also an important consideration throughout the event. Steps were taken to minimise waste by using biodegradable bags for pumpkin waste and making use of food waste recycling bins. This allowed them to enjoy the festivities while remaining mindful of our environmental responsibilities and promoting more sustainable practices within our student community.
