Proud to Shout About is a platform for students to celebrate their successes in being part of the union. Whether it’s running societies or simply moments that make you proud, this is the space to share them. It’s all about highlighting the effort, dedication, and passion that students put into their university life and giving them the recognition they deserve.
LGBTQ+ Society and many friends got together to host a welcoming Society Picnic, bringing together new and returning students and committee leaders for fun, friendship and food.

For one of the first and biggest society collaborations of the year, SIXTEEN of the many cool societies got together to celebrate the start of the new academic year.
In collaboration with the LGBTQ+ Society were:
- Mario Kart Society,
- Staf-FUR-dshire Society,
- FNAF Society,
- Horror Society,
- Life Drawing Society,
- Amateur Dramatics Society,
- MineStaffs Society,
- Cue Sports Society,
- Creative Writing Society,
- Five Fret Society,
- Rhythm Society,
- Yarncraft Society,
- Splatoon Society &
- Staffs Idol Socitety
All coming together to host a large indoor picnic.
This event was a great opportunity for all students to get to know the committee of societies in hopes of breaking down the barriers that prevent students from getting involved (and to get lots of free food).
Societies not only got a chance to boost their range of students that they reached but it also helped many committee members to closen their bonds with other societies and make communication and future collabs easier.
The picnic was a huge success and stayed busy for its entirety which has boosted moral for committee and members alike. Hopefully this helps to increase the many cool events we see at the university this year!
If you loved this event, please consider checking out the many cool societies that came together to make such a fun experience.
Huge thanks to the LGBTQ+ Society for coordinating the event, and to all of the collaborating societies for supporting.
