Proud to Shout About is a platform for students to celebrate their successes in being part of the union. Whether it’s running societies or simply moments that make you proud, this is the space to share them. It’s all about highlighting the effort, dedication, and passion that students put into their university life and giving them the recognition they deserve.

On October 21st, Five-Fret Society, Rhythm Society, Wii Staffs and Staffordshire Esports collaborated to bring a Guitar Hero tournament to Verve! With free pizza available and open to anyone, the societies offered a friendly event to new and veteran players alike with classic songs by Green Day, My Chemical Romance and the Mii Maker music through rounds of 1v1. Despite the collaboration being more casual than a stereotypical tournament it would encourage fair play, jokes and friendly sportsmanship among players, creating a safe and enjoyable environment.

On 21 October, Rhythm Society collaborated with Five-Fret Society, Wii Staffs and Staffordshire Esports to bring an exciting Guitar Hero tournament to Verve! Open to everyone and with free pizza available, the event welcomed both newcomers and experienced players for an evening of music, friendly competition and fun.

Players went head-to-head in rounds of 1v1, taking on classic tracks from Green Day and My Chemical Romance, alongside the much-loved Mii Maker theme. With a mix of familiar favourites and friendly rivalries, the tournament offered an opportunity for students to showcase their skills, discover new interests and enjoy a shared passion for gaming and music.

While the event took a more relaxed approach than a traditional esports tournament, fair play, good humour and friendly sportsmanship remained at its heart. The informal atmosphere encouraged everyone to get involved, regardless of experience, helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where students could socialise, meet new people and enjoy themselves.

The collaboration also highlighted the value of bringing university societies together through shared interests. By combining music, gaming and a little friendly competition, Rhythm Society and its collaborators created an enjoyable experience that brought students together beyond the lecture theatre.

A huge thank you to Five-Fret Society, Wii Staffs and Staffordshire Esports for collaborating to make the event possible, and to everyone who joined in, competed and helped make the evening such a success!

At Rhythm Society, it’s all about bringing people together through music, creating memorable experiences and celebrating the communities built around the things we love.
