Spotlight of the week - Amateur Dramatics Society

Hold onto your hats, spotlight seekers, because this week we're shining a light on the society that breathes life into the stage – the Amateur Dramatics Society! Forget stiff rehearsals and gloomy monologues. This crew is all about silliness, laughter, and putting on a show that'll have you rolling in the aisles. 

First up, there's Evie, the manager extraordinaire. Evie always keeps us on target and makes everyone welcome! Next, we have Jack, the master of comms Jack keeping us up to date and informed. And finally, meet Enola, she wrangles budgets like nobody's business, making sure everyone has the costumes, props, and scripts they need to shine. 

So, whether you're a seasoned actor or a closet comedian, the Amateur Dramatics Society is your place. They'll welcome you with open arms, teach you a thing or two about hammy lines and dramatic pauses, and most importantly, make sure you have the time of your life.

Amateur Dramatics Society Events and Activities 

The society meets every Tuesday and Thursday in k14 in the Dwight building, the sessions start from 6 till 8 pm. During the sessions they run improv and acting games, but this semester is all about putting on a show and preparing for the play in May.  

What is that play, you may ask? And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie! A revised murder mystery, perfect for anyone who might want to engage in such an exciting story! 

It’s all about having fun, getting out of your comfort zone, honing your stage craft, and making friends.?More experienced actors can let their talent really shine on stage, and for the people new to it all, it’s the perfect place to start; being amateur dramatics, they’re really about it being fun, but they also give people the building blocks to start their journey with acting: offering support, tips and tricks.? 

So whatever level of experience people have they can join in the with games, chill and make friends or if they wanna push their abilities and own the spotlight! The plays we put on are the place to be.? 

The feeling of being in the society is really one of community, we all cheer each other on and we all have a good laugh. It’s a safe space.
