Spotlight of the week - folklore

Staffordshire Students' Union supports many great societies and communities, and We're featuring them every week in our spotlight section. Folklore is now one of them, and we're proud to say they have cultivated a wonderful community of folklore fanatics! Everyone is welcome to the Folklore Society, and they're providing a great experience to every member of Staffordshire Students' Union.

Whether you're looking to make friends who share your love for all things Folklore, want to share your favourite folklore tales or want to learn about Folklore, you're guaranteed to have fun at the Folklore Society!

Folklore Society celebrates all things Folklore, and the society promotes the fact that Folklore is an essential part of human history, and it has a significant impact on modern culture. The goal is to explore Folklore from all over the world and share it with other members of society.

Events and Activities

Folklore Society meets every Friday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the ResLife Gardens. They gather around a campfire and make S'mores while listening to folklore tales. Each week, we pick a different theme, so no two sessions are the same!

Folklore is Educational! (But in a cool, fun way)

Know what a pard is? "What's a pard?" you might ask? Well, come to the Folklore Society and learn about the pard and other fascinating folklore wonders. Whether it's silly, kinda gruesome or just plain peculiar, you'll leave with more knowledge then when you came!

Folklore is Eventful! (Not the bad kind of eventful)

There's more to Folklore than just weekly sessions. They plan events throughout the year, from trips out, crafting sessions, and quiz nights and collaborate regularly with our friends at RAMS, Myth, Coven and LGBTQ+ to put on events such as the Monster Ball, Valentine's Bash and of course, Tavern Night.
