Why I Ran for Officer
I’ve always wanted to make a change… and listening to my friends, classmates and even colleagues complain about the way things were going, I knew I had the platform and ability to do something about it. I wanted to finish university feeling like I could make people proud. Being able to make sure every student is listened to, is accepted, protected and gets to have the most amazing time at university.
My Leadership Race Campaign
My campaign focuses on bringing students back into the bigger picture, making sure events aren’t just what “some team in an office” thinks students want, but ones students can create and map themselves. I wanted to make sure industries are getting what they want, what they need, and making sure things like AI is fit into the correct causes for what the people are asking for… to be a voice, a voice that will actually tell the university how it is, what the students are thinking and asking. For too long, students have felt that their money is being thrown away, that they aren’t being listened to, and that they don’t see the university as a UNIVERSITY but rather as a business. Which at the end of the day all decisions should be made with students first, not what’s in your pocket
Favourite Memory at Staffs
My favourite memories have to come straight from the society I lived in for the past two years of my uni life. Guild of assassins. Getting to meet so many amazing, lovely people, and getting to run around campus, dodging and weaving nerf darts as I’m trying to get to class… walking out my door to see someone has set up a bang trap(a fake tripwire trap) and becoming this year's grand champion. It’s a society like no other
Guilty Pleasure
I once ate 15 Twister ice lollies in the space of an hour, which by the way, I bite ice cream if that makes this worse. I was in pain for 3 days after. Don’t recommend it
Advice to First Years
Just have fun. Make stupid mistakes, drink too much on a night out, pull stupid all-nighters with your friends. Make bonds, join societies. Because the people you become friends with at uni, the ones that stick with you till the end, will literally be your backbone. I know mine are.
