FACS had the honour of being shortlisted for a few prestigious awards and even winning a few! Keep on reading to find out more!
It isn't every day you get an email telling you that your society has been shortlisted for an award.
So when FACS attended the fabulous award ceremony hosted by the students union, I really didn't know what to expect!
The first category was "member of the year award", members of the society had the opportunity to vote for who they thought deserved recognition. Whether it be for their continued hard work and dedication to the cause or their shining light that they bring to every meeting. I was honoured when I heard my name come up as the Forensics and Crime Science societies member of the year! Thank you to everyone who voted for me, hearing the nice things you had to say about me really warmed my heart.
FACS has hosted many fabulous events this year and we've met some incredible people along the way. We've hosted murder mysteries, lab sessions and we've had the pleasure of inviting some very Impressive guest speakers. This time last year FACS didn't exist, my self and my committee heard about this dead society and decided it was time for a come back! I was ecstatic to hear we had won the phoenix award for breathing new life into this society and hitting the ground running!
FACS also had the pleasure of being nominated for academic group of the year and the most coveted prize of all, the group of the year! It was a privilege to compete alone side other incredible societies like my good friends SWIS (Staffs women in STEMS) and the computing society. Although we did not win this time just having our good work recognised makes me feel great!
Thank you to everyone who made this possible! Without your support and contribution this would not have happened!
If you're interested in joining FACS and seeing all we have to offer, please join our discord and our society.
Thanks again,
The Crime Scene Manager,
Chloe.
