Following an exciting Summer tournament win, our Pokemon Society were keen to meet up and re-connect on campus for a Pokémon Go Community Walk
Proud to Shout About is a platform for students to celebrate their successes in being part of the union. Whether it’s running societies or simply moments that make you proud, this is the space to share them. It’s all about highlighting the effort, dedication, and passion that students put into their university life and giving them the recognition they deserve.
Around 20 members of Pokésoc gathered at the Catalyst Building and headed down to the new Student Village to catch Pokémon in Pokémon Go and explore the brand new facilities that the Student Village had to offer!
We enjoyed the exercise apparatuses, the new Hub building and the view of the whole village from its rooftop! Older students reflected on how much the campus has changed since their first year and were very impressed with the improvements, some of us going as far as to take photos with the AR feature of Pokémon Go around various areas of the village.
Thanks to this event, members were able to reconnect again after the summer break, all for a joint love of Pokémon and a curiosity for the new campus. We were all incredibly excited to be around fellow Pokémon fans again after only communicating online for a few months, and are looking forward to sessions starting up again from the 24th!
Additionally, over the summer we took part in an event in collaboration with University of Warwick’s Nintendo Society, being a Pokémon Champions tournament of 190+ students and non-students from all over.
Of all the students that competed, Staffs Pokémon Society’s students ranked highest, with 5 of our members making it to the second day of the tournament and one of them, Rein Bressington, ranking 3rd in the entire tournament. We’re incredibly proud of her!
