Who are we?
We are the Staffordshire Kickboxing Club!
We welcome all levels of ability and experience, and we aim to be a club that provides a friendly atmosphere for people to engage in the sport at their own pace, whether you are just starting out and have no previous experience or whether you're a seasoned veteran aiming to get into the competitive side of the sport, this is the club for you!
Sessions
We have partnered with an external kickboxing club in Stoke-on-Trent which will train with us at their venue every Saturday from 2PM - 3PM.
Venue
Originally we aimed to have sessions in the LRV, however we will instead hold them at our partnered club's venue in stoke, they are on the second floor of the building which is located no more than 15 minutes from the main campus!
We will meet at the venue every week.
What will you be doing?
As mentioned above, there will be a training session every week in the LRV, during these sessions you will be able to spar with other members (given you have purchased a membership) or you can follow along with the instructor and learn whatever they are going to be teaching that week. The classes are designed to be very beginner friendly, and for the more advanced practitioners joining us, sparring and more advanced technique drills will be available!
Outside the dojo
In terms of kickboxing related activities outside of regular classes, there could be opportunities to compete in competitions throughout the year against other universities either at their venue or at our own LRV, local championships could also be a possibility if there is enough interest in competition sparring!
Outside of kickboxing, we will have social events to Ember Lounge with our club and with other societies, of course these are optional, but present a great opportunity to socialise with the other club members and students in other societies!
How much does it cost?
The membership fee is £64 for 25/26.
What does this include?
- Weekly classes at the Stoke Kun-Fu & Kickboxing

- Entry to competitions
- Gear purchased through the club
- Social events
- External training sessions at our partnered club
Equipment
We have sparring kits in various sizes to lend to newcomers who are still deciding whether they want to be more serious about the sport, as sparring kits are a steep investment for someone who is still unsure if they will continue in the coming years! We also have focus pads for technique practice, and our venue has heavy bags set up!
Joining Requirements
The only thing you need to join is a willingness to learn! We can provide kit as mentioned above, you don't need to be physically fit, anyone will be able to participate in the sessions as long as they are ready to further their kickboxing skills!
However all should note that we are only capable of selling 18 memberships this year due to insurance restrictions, we will set a date that out membership goes on sale to give everyone a fair chance at participating in sessions. If you didn't get a membership you are still welcome to join our WhatsApp group and our Discord and come to our social and collaborative events with other societies.
