Welcome to the RPG Society!
The RPG Society was created with the intention of gathering fans of RPGs of all kinds into one dedicated place where they can share their passions for Gameplay, Storytelling, Music, Art, and just about everything else that makes this genre truly something special to them. Whether you prefer the high tension gameplay of a brutally difficult Action RPG, or if you'd rather carefully plan out and mastermind your attacks with a satisfying Turn-Based RPG, or even if you're simply just here to immerse yourself within a world with a deep and intricate narrative beautifully woven together with its art and music; No matter what it is that RPGs mean to you, the RPG Society aims to be a place where you can share that passion with many other like-minded people.
With a genre so broad, its never unlikely that you might really like something that someone else has never even heard of before. We want to create a space where no-one is afraid to share that niche little interest of theirs with as many people as possible, and inspire others to take the leap and discover something new for themselves that they might really enjoy.
What We Do
Casuals
Our sessions take place every Monday evening. If there are no active events running, then the session is a "show up and just have fun" type of session, where you can play games, draw, chat with other members, or anything else.
Events
Being a new Society, we have a lot of different events planned for people to take part in, with our aim to make them both beginner friendly while also giving more experienced players a challenge. This could range from quizzes, in game challenges, various different competitions, all putting your skill and knowledge of RPGs to the test (with prizes of course). We cant say much yet, but we are very excited to share what we have planned for the society moving forward.
We'll also frequently ask members for their input on upcoming events, as we want to make sure that everyone feels involved. This will mostly be done in our discord.
Our Discord
Our Discord has several channels dedicated to talking about various specific series, ranging from popular ones like Final Fantasy to even those that are a little more niche such as Drakengard / NieR, and we even have dedicated server roles so that you can let everyone know exactly what series you like and find others that share the same interests. We also welcome any suggestions to add onto this, and providing theres enough people within the server that share that specific interest, we'll give it a dedicated channel. It would unfortunately be impossible to have a channel dedicated to every single RPG out there, but just because something you like doesnt have a channel, that doesnt mean you cant talk about it within the server. There are plenty of other channels that cover a broader scope specifically for situations just like this, so dont be afraid to let everyone know what you like. You may even find that a game you thought was niche, is already popular among our members!

Our Committee
Society Manager: Katie
As society manager, Katie has the job of ensuring that the society; runs. She is in charge of planning events and making sure that things run smoothly. She will happily talk your ear off on just about any given subject if its something she knows even the slightest amount about, mostly even unprompted. Being in the same room as her means you will eventually hear about the NieR series.
I really like Drakenier, Deltarune/Undertale, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and many many more that I likely havent finished but will get around to eventually, a phrase you will hear a lot. RPGs are very important to me, they make up a lot of what I play as someone who isnt really that good at compettitive games, and I really like engaging with things that clearly have a lot of passion put into them as they serve as major inspiration for personal projects. If somethings got a really interesting artstyle or a life changing soundtrack, its likely on my list already. And if it isnt then please inform me of this as soon as you can so that I may rectify this terrible error.
Finance Officer: Hal
As the self proclaimed "money guy", and most employed man of all time, Hal is our finance officer. Hes in charge of making sure that our finances are spent on benefitting the society as a whole, and not spent exclusively on merch. This mainly includes planning prizes for upcoming events, which may end up being merch anyway.
I am less experienced in the world of RPGs then the rest of the commitee but I am eager to jump in further, I am a big fan of Monster hunter and Final fantasy, I plan to get stuck in on all sorts of RPGs when I get the time, and this society is a perfect time to do that so dont be afraid to join us if your new to or just starting out in the genre. I am excited to play undertale and deltarune soon especially since people have said bad things will happen to me if I dont and I am afraid. I am always writing or making something so you will find me involved in any sort of game jams, art contests or event planning we do as a society.
Communications Officer: Pan
Our resident gacha game enthusiast. Pan is responsible for managing our social media and ensuring that all are aware of the current happenings within the society.
While I greatly appreciate the RPG genre, I am not too familiar with the games that fall under it (what a poser everyone cancel me right now). I will claim to be a big Horizon: Zero Dawn fan - which is true - but I in fact have not come close to finishing it. Such is the case with countless other games I haven't gotten around to continuing or starting at all, which is why the society serves as a great opportunity to get my RPG game up and encourage others to engage in the genre as well. I'm always open to discover new games and talk with people about their interests so be not afraid to share and rant about your favourite RPGs. Aside from actual gameplay I will also listen to just about any soundtrack, so if you know a good one recommend it to me STAT.
Welfare Officer: Lance
A hard working completionist. Some would say that means "having too much time on your hands" and being "chronically online", but whos judging. These games usually take like 90 hours on average anyway. Lance is in charge of making sure that all of those within the society feel welcome, and that nobody feels left out. Hes there to listen to any issues members may have, and take onboard suggestions to help the society become a better place.
For a while I have been a big fan of the litrpg genre, He Who Fights with Monsters, Primal Hunter, Randidly Ghosthound and Mark of the Fool being my favourite four. Which has led me to enjoy the types of games that inspired such stories. I'm currently very much enjoying Nier Replicant and looking forward to Automata. However, despite my core enjoyment of such games being the story, one of my favourite aspects of RPG games that I find most satisfying is seeing big damage numbers after grinding for gear.
