Strong communities start from within
My goal is to empower you to shape campus life through two core pillars: Student-Led Safety and Belonging.
Pillar 1: Student-Led Safety
I will work with the SU and campus security to deliver practical improvements you can actually feel.
Anonymous Reporting Boxes: Physical, discreet boxes in the SU, Catalyst, and Libraries for reporting safety concerns without the pressure of a formal meeting. I will check these weekly and provide monthly "You Said, We’re Doing" updates.
Safer Routes Initiative: Improving lighting on key paths, specifically the route via the rugby fields to Buzz Bingo/Aldi, which is currently dark and vulnerable in winter. I will lobby for solar-powered lighting to ensure environmental and personal safety.
Safety Audits & Drop-ins: Regular student-led walks with security to identify "harassment hotspots" and CCTV blind spots. We will also perform monthly SafeZone App testing to ensure the technology actually works when you need it.
Pillar 2: Belonging & Environment
Everyone should feel they belong within the social and culture of Staffs.
Staffs Pride Week: A campus-wide celebration featuring a Pride parade, educational allyship workshops, and a LRV night out.
Private Wellbeing Spaces: Creating designated rooms for pumping/expressing, sensory breaks, and quiet decompression for student parents and neurodiverse students.
Campus Nature Project: A student-led initiative to transform our nature reserve with wildflower planting, bat boxes, and hedgehog houses. This boosts biodiversity while providing a calm space for mental health.
By acting on your concerns, we can build a University of Staffordshire we are all proud of, Vote Natasha Cork.
