Read about the tradition of Pysanky being explored by the Ukrainian Society, as part of the Easter celebrations!
On May 7th, the Ukrainian Society held an an activity that involved painting eggs, listening to music and socialising, which was well recieved by attendants!
The pysanka is a wax-resist type egg, and is one of Ukraine's national symbols, and it is a custom to participate in painting and decorating eggs around the same time as Easter. (It should be noted that, historically, the tradition of egg decoration in Slavic culture originated in pagan times, and is only contemporarily associated with Easter)

The event was a great success, having an attendance of 11 students, they all had a great time creating traditional Easter eggs in a warm and creative atmosphere.
The Ukrainian Society was also pleased with the level of inclusivity, with a number of non-Ukrainian students participating and enjoying the activities hosted.
